If you run a growing business, you have probably felt it: the people side of the company keeps getting more complicated. Payroll has more moving parts. Benefits questions pile up. Compliance requirements shift. A Professional Employer Organization, or PEO, is one way employers bring those responsibilities under a single, coordinated relationship.
A PEO provides HR-related services to businesses — typically payroll and tax administration, human resources support, benefits administration, workers’ compensation and compliance guidance. Instead of managing each of these functions separately, or building them all in-house, you work with one partner that coordinates them.
PEO is not about giving up control of your business. It is about adding infrastructure and support around the employer responsibilities that consume time and create risk.
A good PEO does not take over your business decisions. You still run your company, make hiring calls and set direction. The PEO supports the administrative framework around your workforce so your leadership team can focus on customers, operations and growth.
Not every business wants a full PEO relationship. An ASO (Administrative Services Only) arrangement lets you select specific services — often payroll and administration — while keeping other functions in-house. The right answer depends on how your business runs today.
If any of this sounds familiar, a short conversation is the best next step. HR Alliance can help you understand whether a PEO or ASO model fits your workforce.
